The teachers are the best part of the studying at KLS. They teach well and know how to converse at your current study level, so your conversation steadily improves over time.

After two years of studying at KLS, I’ve gone from knowing just a little hiragana to having conversations with friends and acquaintances in Japanese. I still have a long way to go, but I’m proud of the progress I’ve made, and KLS has played a huge part in that.

In this program, each class was with a different teacher, each having their own unique style of teaching. This helped me quickly identify the ways I learned best as well as where my strengths and weaknesses were. There are so many positives about studying at KLS. I really enjoy the structure of the classes, particularly the way they cover all areas of Japanese — speaking, listening, kanji, reading and writing — while still being very interactive.

It never feels as though we are simply being talked to. We are actively involved throughout the lessons and encouraged to speak, participate and even make mistakes, because that is how we learn.The teachers have been excellent. They are clearly very passionate about what they do, take their teaching seriously and genuinely want every student to succeed. A huge amount of thought and effort has clearly gone into the teaching programme.

Another thing that has really stood out is how friendly, supportive and charming everyone at KLS has been. From the teachers to everyone else we have dealt with, the atmosphere has always been incredibly welcoming.Finally, I have really enjoyed the class itself. The class size is perfect, and we have built a strong bond as a group. Everyone encourages each other to succeed, both inside and outside the classroom. For all of these reasons, I feel that studying at KLS has been incredibly worthwhile.

I have only completed my first semester, so I am still at the beginning of my Japanese journey, but I can already see a significant difference.

Before starting at KLS, when people spoke Japanese to me it often just sounded like noise and I struggled to understand almost anything. Now I am starting to recognise keywords, sentence patterns and grammar when people speak to me. I know I still have a long way to go, but being able to pick these things out feels like an important first step towards properly understanding the language.

Because speaking is actively encouraged in class, I have also become much more confident using basic Japanese in everyday situations, such as in shops and restaurants. Before KLS, I had mainly been studying by myself and did not really have the confidence to actually use what I had learned.

That has definitely changed since joining KLS, and being able to communicate more confidently has genuinely improved the quality of my life and experience in Japan.

What stands out most for me is the quality and friendliness of the teachers and the atmosphere they created in the classroom.

The classes were fun, full of laughter and had a real team feeling. We were all there to learn, but at the same time everyone wanted to help and encourage each other to improve.

That atmosphere made a huge difference. I genuinely enjoyed going to class every day, and I think that says a lot about the experience KLS has created for its students.

I genuinely only have positive things to say about KLS, and I would strongly encourage anyone thinking about studying Japanese to consider it.

I do not have much experience with other language schools in Japan, so I cannot make a direct comparison, but based on my own experience it is difficult for me to imagine what I would want a school to do differently or better.

The quality of the teaching, the structure of the course, the friendliness of the teachers and staff, and the atmosphere within the classes have all been excellent.

I personally expect to continue studying and working together with KLS for the foreseeable future, which is probably the strongest recommendation I can give.

I also appreciate the teachers' feedback on areas of improvement and teaching us important nuances not only of the Japanese language but also the culture, so that we can understand how to communicate with local Japanese people at a deeper level.

Studying at KLS has helped me to gain confidence in how to smoothly assimilate into life in Japan. Since my children go to local Japanese schools, I have been able to learn from the KLS teachers not only how to communicate from a language standpoint, but how to understand the ins and outs of Japanese life as a mother. The teachers have eased my worries about how to join PTA and volunteering for my kids' sports teams, etc. and I'm so grateful to be able to ask my teachers for advice and gain knowledge from their personal experiences as well.

Our daily lives, interests, and even some of our challenges are often quite similar, so having these classmates around also motivates me to always do my best.

At first, I wondered whether private lessons or group classes would be better for me. But I realized that being part of a group is actually great training in itself. We learn the same things from different perspectives, and I think that makes the learning experience even more valuable.

And yes, absolutely! I try to speak Japanese more often with my husband’s family, and also with other people, such as my children’s teachers and other mothers at their school. I hope that one day I will be able to speak Japanese naturally and without having to think so much.

So far, I’ve been lucky enough to have classes with six different teachers, and they have all been wonderful at what they do! They are always cheerful and have a way of naturally making everyone in the class feel comfortable and connected. Because of that, every class becomes memorable. I have several favorite memories, especially funny moments we’ve shared together, which make the lessons feel light and enjoyable, even though we learn so much new material every day.

If you’re wondering whether you should study here, you can be sure that you won’t regret choosing KLS. I’m constantly positively surprised by how much we learn and how quickly we’re able to put what we learn into practice, starting from the very first lesson.
